Newsflash: MTC has announced an initiative to offer tickets for $30 to people under 30. These under-30-year-olds will have to log on to the MTC website and join a group or something.
I don't know about you, but for most of my under-30 life, $30 was like half of my weekly budget. I wouldn't even spend $30 on shoes.
Ok, I'm exaggerating a little. Why am I complaining? I'm such a crank.

I don't know...it's at least a step in the right direction. They should totally work it right up the ladder: $40 for 40s, $50 for 50s. Or just Pay Your Age Night. Except everyone would lie.
I know, but what's with the online group? I don't know why I'm so cranky about this, but what's wrong with presenting an ID? And in the same city as the Signature's $20 initiative, and the Atlantic's $15 nights, $30 doesn't really do it for me. If they're going to do something, why not do it right, and not just "make a step in the right direction"?
But yeah... I know I'm being a little obnoxious.
Everyone wants to grow a 'young' audience not just people who want discounts, not just people who want to see one thing a year for cheap but a 'young' audience who will return and fill in the same old subscription model. It's just a sign, I think, that theaters don't realize that younger generations approach attending theater in a different way.
and I'm with you sarah, $30 is still a pricey ticket.
If Hannah Hessel agrees with me, I need no further validation :)
